For more than twenty years, I have written songs across different languages, cities and stages.
Moving Still is the first time those experiences have come together as an English album.
These songs were written across Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Belize, Myanmar, Ireland, South Africa, Spain, New York, and lately Toronto, Canada.
Airports, cafés, rental cars, unfamiliar streets and temporary homes slowly became a permanent emotional landscape.
The faster the world moves,
the slower I choose to become.

My songs have travelled where Chinese is spoken.
Moving Still is about seeing how far they can travel without the language. It's less about translating lyrics than sharing a perspective shaped by Hong Kong, and a life lived across continents.
Think of it as changing the operating system, not just the interface.
The stories stay the same. The language changes.
But actually I am not translating the language, I am translating a way of seeing the world.

THE PROJECT
MOVING STILL is more than an album.
It is the beginning of an English-language body of work built over more than two decades of songwriting.
Alongside the album, the project includes a photography exhibition and a Toronto residency at Rivoli, bringing together music, images and conversation in the same space.
Rather than translating my previous work, I am building a new catalogue in English for an international audience.
Movement is constant.
Stillness is earned.
THE PROJECT CONTINUES
Moving Still will continue to develop through:
• The album
• A photography exhibition documenting cities, light and everyday movement
• A residency at Rivoli in Toronto
• Live performances and conversations around songwriting
Together they form one evolving project rather than separate releases.
The Artist
Yatfung (Chet Lam) is a Hong Kong–born singer-songwriter. Over the past two decades, he has written songs for himself and many of Asia's leading artists, a handful of which became generation-defining anthems. Somewhere along the way he also built a music crowdfunding platform (MusicBee), started a concert production company (Seeing Creative), wrote books, and produced more than twenty-five albums.
Moving Still marks the beginning of his English-language catalogue. After twenty years talking mostly to Chinese-speaking audiences, he thought it was probably time to introduce himself to everyone else.
